“If I waited for perfection…I would never write a word.” Margaret Atwood
This course focuses on writing in a variety of genres using creative processes that will enhance the writer’s creativity and talents through their writing. We will write with passion and honesty and all I can ask for is an honest effort and diligence in your work as a student in my class. In this class we will advance our skills as a writer and storyteller, and learn how to express our ideas and feelings through various styles of writings and activities presented. We will use poetry, discussions, assigned reading and writing exercises, short story writing, and critiques of student writing in a work shop mode. The students will keep a journal and prepare a portfolio of their work.
The process of writing will include reading (sometimes), journaling or generating, mentoring, experimenting, revising, and editing. All final pieces you will create will reflect the process of writing.
Do not worry about your creative skills at the start of this course, our classroom experiences will be dedicated to improvement no matter what your level today!
Come along and join us on a great and fun writing adventure!
