This college-prep physics course is designed for the student who has completed
algebra. A brief introduction to basic trigonometric functions will be provided. This
course provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general
physics. This text is ideal preparation for a university-level physics course. Topics
include one-dimensional and two-dimensional motion, Newton's laws and their
application, gravity, work and energy, momentum, periodic motion, waves, optics,
electrostatics, electrodynamics, electrical circuits, and magnetism with a heavy
emphasis on vector analysis. This course will have both lecture and lab component.
Lecture will be the first 45 minutes of class. The last 45 minutes of class will be
devoted to the lab experiment to wrap up the week of homework and independent
study. A lab notebook will be required and students will create a lab report for each
lab activity.
