This class will be taught using the Math-U-See curriculum and will include the
**Honors portion recently added to the program. It will also include study from the
Kaplan SAT Prep Program for Geometry topics, Math Demystified, and Critical
Thinking Press. One lesson will be covered each week and students will expected to
complete the entire lesson. Parents will grade homework twice weekly. **Although
the Honors portion of the curriculum will be used in class, this is not an AP level
class and any student who completed Algebra I can succeed in this class; it does,
however, offer students a chance to dig deeper and provides some SAT prep. It is a
high level class and students who don't have a solid background in Algebra I may
struggle with Geometry. Having said this, Math-U-See is well written and student
friendly and can be understood well by students that are not "math inclined". These
students should expect to spend more time completing assignments. Monday will
be the primary teaching day and include time to practice the new material with the
teacher's help. Thursday will be used to re-teach, work on SAT prep and the word
problems.
