Algebra I Meredith Buhrow
This class will be taught using Math-U-See Curriculum and will include the **Honors
portion recently added to the Math-U-See package. It will also include study from the
Kaplan SAT Prep Program for Algebra topics, Math Demystified, and Critical Thinking
Press. One lesson will be covered each week and students will be expected to
complete the entire lesson. Parents will grade homework twice a week. **Although
the Honors portion of the curriculum will be used in class, this is not an AP level
class; it does, however, offer students a chance to dig deeper and provides some
SAT prep. It is a high level class and students with a strong understanding of math
basics can succeed in this class. Having said this, Math-U-See is well written and
student friendly and can be understood well by students that are not "math inclined"
as well as those who are not strong in math basics. These students should expect to
spend more time completing assignments. Monday will be the primary teaching day
and include time to practice the new material with the teacher's help. Thursday will
be used to re-teach, work on SAT prep and the word problems.
