Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In ALL your ways, acknowledge HIM, and HE will make your paths straight.

Institute for Excellence in Writing I Susan Swiggart
"But Mom, I don't know what to write about?!" Does this sound familiar? The
Institute for Excellence in Writing course helps with this question. "Practical
Homeschooling" magazine has voted it #1 Reader's Choice for 5 years with good
reason. This course is excellent, especially for boys who struggle with writing. Using
a classical modeling method, IEW provides the "what to write about" by giving
specific writing skills. As students practice each format and master each technique,
they develop confidence and creativity. Building upon a foundation of note taking and
key word outlines, students will learn to write strong paragraphs from their outlines.
They will learn stylistic techniques to "dress up" their writing and make it unique and
engaging. These skills will be practiced while writing short narrative stories, essays,
and research reports. Some basic public speaking will also be learned as students
present their writings in class. One mother commented, "My son never fights me
about writing anymore. He just does it!" This one year program will take the "what?"
out of writing for students and replace it with a confident, "I know how!"
