Starting Points -- A Biblical World View                                        Susanne Johnson

The purpose of this study is to establish a Biblical world view in the hearts and
minds of students. This lively discussion course begins by looking at the six
distinctions between Christianity and all other religions, building confidence in
personal evangelism. At the same time, students fine-tune their world view by
looking up Scriptures and writing one fully developed paragraph per week on the
following: What is the Nature of God?, Nature of Man?, Basis for Ethics and Morality?
Meaning of History?, Origin of the Universe? Cause of Evil and Suffering? What
Happens after Death? Students will quickly learn college-prep writing, annotation and
Cornell note-taking. Students will then compose a multi-paragraph essay, "My
Personal World View" and begin learning to identify the world views of authors and
screen writers. Second semester, students will study two books on apologetics - the
reasonable defense of our faith - concluding with an inspiring text on the political
and religious backdrop of the founding of America. Since students are earning three
credits and need to spend 2 hours per day in study, it is recommended they take only
math, science and an elective in addition to this course.
Also parents are strongly
encouraged to make sure their student stays on task each week and to help
proofread. Parent, you will need to sit in the first few minutes of the first class.
