Window on the World: Middle School Geography Renee Bridgman
This is a World Geography course which introduces middle school students to over
90 countries throughout the world. Each country is presented in a glossy, colorful
two page spread which gives the name of the country, pictures of the landscape and
culture, a short personal story about someone's life there, a close-up map, a
location-in-the-world map, a fact box with about six country facts, written text about
the country's uniqueness, and prayer suggestions.
Launching out from the Window on the World text, this class will use outline maps
for map study and will learn geography vocabulary through short weekly quizzes.
The teacher will be using resources such as Abeka's World Geography in Christian
Perspective for assuring that the five themes of geography are covered in a thorough
scope and sequence. Students will read one outside book and develop a three to
five minute country presentation on each continent we study. In this class,
geography themes are learned, and then applied as a tool for developing "a heart for
the nations" after Christ's example.
