Acting Technique and Tournament                                                  Annie Scontrino

This is a fun and in-depth acting class focused on building confidence, acting
techniques and auditioning skills.  Students will learn monologues, humorous and
dramatic interpretation scenes, and duet scenes.  With these scenes, there is no
lighting, no sound affects, and no costumes allowed.  All you have to rely on to
create your character is your acting!  And so we perfect it!  This is also beneficial to
future actors/actresses needing to know monologues for auditioning.
We will also evaluate and study character personalities and how the motivations
of characters affect their actions.  We will do cold readings of scripts, then go back
and access what could have been done differently.  This is crucial for
actors/actresses to learn these auditioning skills and tips. The students can also
choose to present their prepared pieces for the
National Christian Forensics and
Communications Association.
This class is great for either shy or outgoing students to sharpen their
communication skills and to feel more comfortable in front of a group.  This class is
a necessity for any student wanting to become an actor or actress.  The class will
present their scenes at a Showcase Theater for parents at the end of the semester
at CERC.
